FOR PROPOSED KUDZU ERADICATION SITES
IN VANDERBURGH COUNTY
Site #1:
Stringtown and Petersburg Road
Part of NE ¼ of Sec. 5 T-6-S / R-10-W
Situated in Evansville close to business and residential
Soil type is predominantly Wellston Silt Loam (WeE2) with 18% to 25% slopes
considered eroded with low fertility.
Concerning the
re-vegetation of this site, proper lime and fertilizer rates are essential in
obtaining a good stand of vegetation to prevent bare soil from eroding. Soil
tests are recommended to provide adequate nutrients and proper pH.
The following seeding recommendations are appropriate for this site:

Mesker Park and Wimberg Road
across from Mesker Amphitheater
Part of S ½ of
Sec. 14 T-6-S / R-11-W
Situated on land
owned by the City of Evansville, this is a large (8 acre) site with a golf
course and other public lands abutting.
Soil type is
predominantly Wellston Silt Loam (WeE2) with 18% to 25% slopes, considered
eroded with low fertility.
Concerning the re-vegetation of this site, proper lime and fertilizer rates are essential in obtaining a good stand of vegetation to prevent bare soil from eroding. Soil tests are recommended to provide adequate nutrients and proper pH. Because this is a public site in a park situation with interest in increasing a more natural setting, native grasses are provided as an option in the recommended seeding at this site.

Part of NW ¼ of
Sec. 27 T-6-S / R-11-W
Situated in a
residential area with two land owners. There is a grass that is out-competing
the kudzu in the more open areas. Could not identify the grass species at the
time of the site visit. Soil type is predominantly Wellston (WeF) with 25% to
50% slopes; a very steep site.
Concerning the re-vegetation of this site, proper lime and fertilizer rates are essential in obtaining a good stand of vegetation to prevent bare soil from eroding. Soil tests are recommended to provide adequate nutrients and proper pH. Maintaining existing ground cover of grasses will go a long way in preventing erosion.

residential area behind houses. Soil types are predominantly Wellston (WeD3)
with 12% to 18% slopes, severely eroded, and Alford (AlC3) with 6% to 12%
slopes, severely eroded.
Concerning the revegetation of this site, proper lime and fertilizer rates are essential in obtaining a good stand of vegetation to prevent bare soil from eroding. Soil tests are recommended to provide adequate nutrients and proper pH.
