 Locust Creek Watershed Funded

Commissioner Bill Nix, Wayne Fehd (SWCD Supervisor) & Greg Biberdorf (DNR)

Landowners and farm operators in the Locust Creek Watershed; the Vanderburgh County SWCD has been informed that the Indiana Department of Natural Resources has funded our request for a cost share program at the tune of $30,000 with a potential of an additional $60,000 over the next three years! This program is called Lake and River Enhancement (LARE) which is designed to cost share on the traditional conservation projects as well as many non-traditional water quality enhancement projects. The two public meetings were a success with several landowners already scheduling site visits with staff.  Commissioner Bill Nix attended on Tuesday evening, December 5, 2006 to receive along with Wayne Fehd (SWCD Supervisor) the $30,000 Grant Award from James Ray, Chief, Lake and River Enhancement Section, IDNR Division of Fish and Wildlife.  Greg Biberdorf, Department of Natural Resources presented the Award and gave a power point presentation explaining the grant.
